What is a “camp shirt,” anyway?

Camp Shirts (also known as aloha shirts) are lightweight, short-sleeved casual shirts, usually bearing whimsical motifs. They usually feature a fully buttoned front and a left-hand chest pocket fashioned to make the printed pattern (some of which can be quite wild!) continuous across the shirt. They can be worn by both men and women

More than just camping attire, camp shirts are meant to be worn anywhere you want to take your fun personality, whether that’s to the beach, a pool party, a poker night, or just while you’re mastering the backyard grill.

The camp shirt (or aloha shirt) originated, as one might guess, in Hawaii. Following the Second World War, big-name celebrities such as President Harry S. Truman wore these fancifully patterned shirts, and the alpha-cowboy John Wayne and the King himself, Elvis Presley, were known to sport these shirts.
